Alan Fletcher

Alan Fletcher, one of the most well known British Graphic Designers of all time, creating pieces of influential design for the past fifty years. Fletcher is one of the five founders of the group Pentagram, and during his time there worked with a diverse range of clients.

One of Fletchers most renowned publications, contains all the visual prompts and “eye candy” that he has used for inspiration throughout his career.

David Hughes

David Hughes is one of the illustrators who’s webpages actually utilises the site to his advantage in order to broadcast himself and sell his work, although the interactivity could be better, it still is a well designed site with regards to the creativity.

The ink spill on the homepage automatically indicates to a user his area of work and expertise. I continued to look further at his work, which as I was looking through had the same impact on me much like Ian Pollock’s work. It consists of the same edgy and arguably disturbing tendencies.

Susan Kare

When beginning my research on Susan Kare, from her website it is automatically evident what her area of work is.

Susan Kare is a Graphic Designer who has worked very closely alongside Apple Macintosh. She began working with Apple in the 80s and is the person responsible for the fonts and icons used in the early Macintosh systems, some of which can be seen in the screenshot of her homepage.

As well as this, she has created logos for several various companies, and it has to be said I really like her simplistic, fresh and modern approach to creating a business identity.

Hi-Res

First impressions from Hi-Res is that it boasts its globalisation, as it has offices based across the globe, in London, Hamburg, Berlin and New York, already saying a lot about the company with regards to its popularity.

I will be looking into the work it has done for “MTV HiJack!”

Hi-Res state that this video was supposed to be a obscure and play on reality as we know it, and even though I can understand how the idea of using a computer desktop interface can have this impression, as the internet and technology have arguably different realities to that which is outside of technology, I can’t really understand where this (video) would have been used. I imagine that this long video would have been broken up and used as idents whilst the program is showing, or used as the title sequence? I am not too sure.
